Enchantments!

The next morning, we got some spotty patches of blue but it stayed cloudy and cool.  This was probably our best chance to hike to the edge of the pass and check out the view, so we decided to take a chance with the clouds and go for a walk.

Besides, we needed to do something!

The hike from Inspiration to the pass is not a difficult one at all, a bit of elevation gain at the beginning (with a great view of Inspiration Lake - and some boot skiing on the way down) and then a nice flat hike to the pass, around some great scenery.

The view from the pass was spectacular, even with the clouds. We waited long enough to see some areas lit up by the sun, but had to head back eventually.

We spent that night at Inspiration Lake - another chilly one.

Saturday we decided to find a campsite a bit farther down the lower basin, shorten the final walk out on Sunday a bit.

We got lucky that day, arriving at Leprechaun Lake almost simultaneously with a few hours of sunshine.  We set up camp and then spent the afternoon laying in the sun or poking around the lake shore. Steve went for a bit of a climb, up towards one of the high points nearby.

That next day it was time to walk out. We decided to go a bit off the trail for a while en route to Lake Viviane, but made pretty good time on the hike.

The hike down turned out to be tougher than the hike up - it usually is, but we made it.   This time I think IŽd think about going back again in a little less than six years...

Time to go home.
